Inheritance

Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cycolopentasiloxane, Centrimonium Chloride, Silk Powder, Dimethiconol, Quaternium-18 and twenty other chemicals with unpronouncable names make up a substance marketed as Finesse. Its inventor advertised it as "the flowing cream shampoo" just after World War II, and through countless changing of ownership, it has remained a product which people rub into their scalp containing Quaternium-18. Normally, this sort of information woulnd't be of any use to a clergyman, but Father Bernard had an extremely guilt ridden researcher who confessed that Quaternium-18 was shown in several studies to form a carcinogenic substance when combined with the whiteners used in toothpastes. Father Bernard thought this a gift from God and shorted the current owner of Finesse with the tithes from his parish until his death fifty years later. And it may have been one of God's gifts because the price of the stock held nearly constant through all that time and several generations after when Harrison Schmitt stumbled upon Father Bernard's journal detailing everything.

Harrison had been the historian for the church through each of the last six affiliation changes. The most recent change to the New Modern Visionaries of Christ had forced him to go through the church records purging any reference to the Book of Acts, which this denomination held as being completely spurious. Greed kept Harrison silent about his find and by the end of the year he had reformed the original church with himself as the only member. He passed the Quaternium-18 tip to an upstart lawyer interested in taking down a big company in a class action lawsuit with millions of plaintiffs. Two years later he was a multitrillionaire and the head of a cult branch of Christianity he called the Watchers for the Second Coming. He used his cult chiefly to sleep with underage women at a rate that would have made Jim Jones jealous. He fathered numerous children in this way, but his favorite and the only one that inherited his last name was Rhodes Schmitt.

Rhodes always knew that his father had intended for him to take over the Watchers. He was groomed for leadership his whole life. His father took him everywhere and showed him everything. Everyone thought that he would keep things running as normal when Harrison died. People were even excited about the change, especially the teenage girls thought it would be a nice change to sleep with a young guy instead of an eighty-year old. Rhodes, not being interested in sleeping with teenage girls nor feeling that employing twenty-thousands constantly manned telescopes all over the world to look for Jesus' return was of great value, sought something different. He decided to make it his quest to find all his family starting with his mother, who had been kicked out of the cult shortly after his birth.

Story Game vol. 1

This is the inaugural edition of the story game. To start with, I think we should use very simple rules:

  • Every one gets one round and then the story ends.
  • Word limits are [128-2000]
  • Please try not to take more than a few days per round
  • Order is selected randomly.
The order for the first game, as selected by random.shuffle() is TED, Geoff, Jason, Matt.
